Professional beach volleyball tournaments held by AVP Pro Beach Volleyball can be viewed throughout 2010 with games scheduled to tour 12 U.S. locations.

Professional beach volleyball competitions heat up with tournaments scheduled at 12 of the hottest beaches in the U.S. from April through September. The 2010 AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour, presented as the “2010 AVP Nivea Tour", promises intense two-person beach volleyball competition throughout the United States.

Pro beach volleyball tournaments offer fans fun and excitement in the sun while watching some of the best beach volleyball athletes in the world. Spectators can purchase event tickets in advance or view most games live on television.

2010 Pro Beach Volleyball Tour in 12 U.S. Cities

The 2010 Pro Beach Volleyball schedule travels from coast to coast to showcase competitions at prominent beach locations in the United States. According to AVP, locations were selected for their volleyball community and large beach-going audience for optimal commercial appeal of competitive outdoor volleyball games.

The AVP Nivea Tour will host professional beach volleyball at the following locations for the 2010 season:

  • Ft. Lauderdale, Florida: April 16-18 at Fort Lauderdale Beach Park
  • Santa Barbara, California: April 29-May 2 at West Beach
  • Huntington Beach, California: June 3-6 at South Side of Huntington Beach Pier
  • Virginia Beach, Virginia: June 18-20 at South Side of Virginia Beach Pier
  • Belmar, New Jersey: June 25-27 at North of Taylor Pavilion
  • Hermosa Beach, California: July 16-18 at North Side of Hermosa Beach Pier
  • Malibu, California: July 24-25 at Zuma Beach
  • San Francisco Bay Area, California: Aug. 14-15 (exact location to be determined)
  • Manhattan Beach, California: Aug. 19-22 at South Side of Manhattan Beach Pier
  • Chicago, Illinois: Aug. 27-29 at Oak Street Beach
  • Cincinnati, Ohio: Sept. 3-5 (exact location to be determined)
  • Los Angeles, California: Sept. 17-19 (exact location to be determined)

The tour championship will be held at the Chicago event, while the Tournament of Champions will be held the following weekend in Cincinnati. The final stop of the tour in Los Angeles will be the post season specialty tournament. Fans that purchase tickets to view events live will witness first rate volleyball matches.

AVP Partners with Beach Events in California Beach Locations

To increase the tournament exposure and excitement, AVP has partnered with other leading beach events at five California beach locations on the Pro Beach Volleyball Tour.

  • Santa Barbara (April 29-May 2 at West Beach): The AVP tournament will run in conjunction with CBS College Sports Network and the American Volleyball Coaches Association. Together they will host the fifth annual “ALT Games”, a Collegiate Beach Volleyball Championship supported by USA Volleyball that showcases top women’s college volleyball players.
  • Huntington Beach (June 3-6 at South Side of Huntington Beach Pier): The AVP Tournament will be held alongside the U.S. Open of Bodyboarding and a Professional Longboard Association event.
  • Hermosa Beach (July 16-18 at North Side of Hermosa Beach Pier): Beachgoers will enjoy the AVP concurrent with the inaugural All American Volleyball Sand Showcase Camp; a summer volleyball camp for girls ages 13-18.
  • Malibu (July 24-25 at Zuma Beach): AVP joins the Malibu Surf & Sport Festival for the ultimate beach sporting event.
  • Manhattan (Aug. 19-22 at South Side of Manhattan Beach Pier): Pro Beach stars will offer a rematch of the previous season’s North Bay vs. South Bay special event.

AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour Players and Teams

Since 1983, AVP (Association of Volleyball Professionals) has been organizing professional beach volleyball events worldwide through AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour, Inc. Over 150 of the top men and women volleyball players compete in the professional tournament. AVP volleyball players include Olympic gold medal winners such as Phil Dalhausser, Todd Rogers and Misty May-Treanor.

Professional beach volleyball fans and spectators will have an opportunity to watch their favorite players at more professional beach volleyball competitions in 2010. Other events include: the Qualifier Tour, the Developmental U26 Tour, the AVP/CBVA Qualifiers and the Barefoot Wine Series.
